Network and Server Maintenance

Dear Valued HostDome Clients,

Over the years of service we have provided to our customers, we have always tried to make improvements every so often to make our affordable hosting plans even better. A few months ago Astro.HostDome.com, our web server, has had an intermittent problem; A new more powerful server was than ordered and received. It was soon configured and setup for deployment, however a few roadblocks were found. Our new replacement server utilizes the new Dual Intel Xeon 64-bit processors and Ultra-Fast SCSI hard drives. Since the 64-bit processors were just released, a few software issues had to be dealt with. After a long delay by the software designers, which we had no control over, they released the new versions which allowed us to move on to the final stages of deployment.

On Saturday, April 16th 2005, this server will be placed inside the datacenter, the information will be transferred over, and the server will be turned up. This change will cause little downtime since the new server will use the same IP addresses you had before. We only expect a maximum of one hour of downtime taking place in the middle of the afternoon EST. Little data loss or downtime is expected; however, to limit this occurrence, please try to limit changes made to your site from Friday morning until the transfer. If you utilize a special database that is constantly updated, please email our staff at support@hostdome.com with your account information so that can be transferred last.

During this transfer, our two gameservers, metro and sky.HostDome.com, will also be down for maintenance. Those IPs will change since we are getting "better ones." Customers using ventrilo servers or game servers will have a slight downtime in the early morning and will be back up and running by the evening. New IP assignments will be noted.
